Mansfield University is pleased to announce changes to our payment options for tuition and fees.

In order to continue to offer the secure convenience of credit card payments as an option, Mansfield University has contracted with Official Payments to process credit card payments online through WebAdvisor.

Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit/debit cards will be accepted.

Secondly, credit/debit card payments will only be accepted online through WebAdvisor.  Enrollment Services will no longer accept credit/debit card payments in person, over the phone or through the mail.

Thirdly, Official Payments will charge a service fee of 2.5% of the payment amount for this service. The service fee will appear on your credit/debit card statement as a separate line item from your Mansfield tuition and fees payment.

Finally, Enrollment Services is offering e-Check as an alternative to credit card payments. This new payment option will allow you to pay by check online with no fee.  Enrollment Services will continue to accept check payments or money orders by mail and in person. Cash transactions are accepted in person. A $25 fee is charged for each e-check returned by the bank for non-sufficient funds (NSF). A $5 fee is charged for each e-check returned by the bank for invalid account information.

What will change?

Effective January 5, 2010, Mansfield University has contracted with Official Payments and will implement changes regarding payment options for tuition and fees. The payment process is simple and secure. These are the primary changes that will result from the new policy:

• Students will be able to make payments directly from any personal checking account (e-Check) with no additional charges by using the e-check web payment option. Simply enter the bank/financial institution routing and account number information at the time of payment.
•  The Enrollment Services Office will no longer accept credit/debit card payments for tuition in person, over the phone or through the mail. Credit/debit card payments may be made through the secure online payment in WebAdvisor. A service fee of 2.5% of the total payment amount will be added to the credit card payment transaction.
• VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express cards will be accepted for payments made for tuition and fees.

Why were these changes made?

While credit card payments offer a convenient manner for students and parents to pay tuition and fees, the cost to the University for providing this convenience has grown substantially. Mansfield University is working to keep costs down while maintaining high quality academic programs and services. These changes allow us to reduce costs while providing a variety of payment options to meet individual needs. Mansfield has contracted with Official Payments to provide these services. This change will benefit the University and students by enabling the University to allocate the savings to other critical need areas.

Why is there a convenience fee and why am I paying for this?

Official Payments charges a service fee for processing the transaction. The service fee is assessed to cover operating costs and the costs associated with servicing hundreds of credit/debit card transactions. You will be informed of all fees before you authorize your payment.

Official Payments processes electronic payments for over 3,000 counties, municipalities, and higher education institutions across all 50 states. Official Payments is PCI, PCI DSS Level 1, FERPA, and GLB compliant. Official Payments’ systems pass an annual 1,000 point check that is conducted by the IRS. The information Official Payments gathers is private and will not be forwarded to anyone.
