2014-15 Returning Student Scholarships:

Academic Performance

General academic scholarships will be available for currently enrolled student who are planning to reside on campus during the 2014-2015 academic year. Students must have completed at least 24 credits with a GPA of 3.2 for scholarship consideration.

Alumni Association Student Leadership

The MU Alumni Association Student Leadership Scholarship recognizes, encourages and rewards Undergraduate students who demonstrate academic and personal achievement and have the potential to become active alumni who will support the university and positively impact their communities. It is awarded to a full time student who is either a sophomore for the use in the recipient's junior year and/or a junior for use in the recipient's senior year. Preference will be given to a member of the Student Alumni Ambassador Leadership Organization. The recipient must have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and demonstrated leadership through involvement in campus clubs or associations, community activities or employment.

Class of '53

A scholarship established by donation from the Class of 1953. General Scholarship Guidelines will apply.

Class of ‘54

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1954. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student majoring in Education. The student may be a sophomore, junior or senior. General Scholarship Guidelines apply to this scholarship that is awarded to a returning student to the University.

Class of ‘55

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1955 for full time students entering either their junior or senior year with at least a 2.5 GPA. 

Class of ‘56

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1956. General Scholarship guidelines will apply to this award.

Class of '57

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1957. General Scholarship Guidelines will apply.

Class of ‘58

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1958. It is to be used to off-set the cost of tuition or room and board and is awarded to a student who has a demonstrated financial need, maintains a 2.75 GPA and is an upperclassman. Further consideration is given to non-traditional students.

Class of ‘59

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1959. It is to be used to off-set the cost of tuition or room and board and is awarded to a student who has a demonstrated financial need, maintains a 2.75 GPA, and is an upperclassman. Further consideration is given to non-traditional students.

Class of ‘60

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1960. General Scholarship Guidelines will apply.

Class of '61

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1960. General Scholarship Guidelines will apply.

Class of '62

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1962. General Scholarship Guideline will apply.

Evans Family

This scholarship is given to a grad student taking at least 6 credits and who is able to maintain a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a non-traditional student. General Scholarship Guidelines apply. The recipient is chosen by the MU Scholarship Committee.

First Citizens Community Bank

A scholarship presented to a sophomore, junior or senior who resides in the First Citizens Community Bank market area. This will be given to a FCCB employee, local director or their dependent with preference given to full time students. The student must maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete at least 20 hours of community service each semester.

Gladys Frick-Weaver Nursing Excellence

These awards are for currently enrolled Nursing students who have completed 6 semesters of coursework.

Ronald G. & Betty B. Goodwin Leadership

A scholarship designed to provide financial support to a deserving student who has completed their freshman year. Student should be a resident of PA or the Southern Tier of New York. Students must be involved in leadership activities at Mansfield University. Student must have at least a 2.65 GPA. Award recipient determined by University Scholarship Committee.

Hall & Howe Book

A $500 book award for the University Bookstore. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and at least junior status. Recipient must show leadership traits and preference is given to students who hold an office in an on-campus organization.

Sandra B. Linck Childcare Center

This scholarship is presented to a student who has a child attending the Sandra B. Linck Childcare Center and is not receiving any other scholarships from the University. The student must be at least halftime status.

Lippert Book

Book awards available for use at our Campus Bookstore through the generosity of the Lippert Foundation. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have completed at least 24 credits.

Loeschke Leadership

Scholarships created by former Mansfield University President, Dr. Maravene Loeschke. The award is for a student who has completed their freshman year with at least a 3.0 GPA. Recipient must be a proven leader on campus and/or the Mansfield community.

Mansfield Association of Educational Office Professionals (MAEOP) Book Award

A $300 book scholarship, to be used at the Campus Bookstore, sponsored by the University’s Educational Office Professionals. Priority is given to a returning non-traditional student from Tioga County. The recipient is awarded through the University Scholarship Committee.

Joseph Maresco Leadership

A scholarship created by former Vice-President for Student Affairs, Joseph Maresco, and his wife, MaryAnn. The scholarship is for currently enrolled students with a minimum GPA of 2.5, and who make a contribution to activities that serve the University community.

McInroy Sheffer

A scholarship given to a senior Education major with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Meyer

A scholarship given to a fulltime returning student with at least a 3.0 GPA who demonstrates financial need (preference given to sophomores). They must also exhibit superior academic records or manifest promise or outstanding academic success in any field of study. The recipient is chosen by the University Scholarship Committee. General Scholarship Guidelines are applicable.

Mustafa

An international scholarship for a returning female upperclassman (at least a sophomore) who has at least a 2.75 GPA. This award is for room and board costs. Recipient is selected by the University Scholarship Committee. General Scholarship Guidelines are applied.

Nursing Faculty

A $300 award for a junior, senior or grad Nursing major with at least a 3.5 GPA.

Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU)

Students will need to have at least a 3.0 GPA for consideration.

Mary A. & Robert H. Rodine

An award for a full-time student who is of at least sophomore status from Lackawanna or Luzerne Counties. The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

A. Hugh Schintzius International

A scholarship established by Mr. Schintzius, a former faculty member at Mansfield University. The scholarship is a renewable award for international students.

Richard Springman Memorial

A scholarship for a CJA major with at least a 2.5 GPA and evidence of community service.

Rodine

A scholarship for a student residing in either Lackawanna or Luzerne counties with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and at least 30 credits.

Karen Starner-Jacobson

Scholarship honoring the memory of Karen Starner-Jacobson is available to a member of Delta Zeta Sorority who has been a sister in good standing for at least one year. The successful applicant must be currently active within the chapter with a GPA of 2.7 or greater and have successfully competed at least 64 credits by the end of the spring 2015 semester. Amount of the award to be determined.

Harold E. Terry Endowment

A scholarship for a junior or senior History, Geography, Political Science or Social Studies major. Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA and award will be determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Tri-County/Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative

These scholarships are presented to students who are dependents of a Claverack or Tri-County Rural Electric Cooperative member. Students must be in the top 50% of their senior class, score over 1000 on their SAT (Math & Verbal) and be enrolled as a full-time student. In addition, they must demonstrate the highest traits of leadership, citizenship and character and should have been involved in Youth Tour.

Trimmer

A scholarship for a non-traditional student with financial need. A 3.0 GPA is required. The recipient is chosen by the University Scholarship Committee.

Wetmore

A scholarship award created by B. Foster and Marlene Borck Wetmore, for a sophomore who has at least a 2.8 GPA and is aware of the importance of a college education, has at least a B average in the Math/Science field (not environmental science).
