2015-16 Returning Student Scholarships

Alumni Association Student Leadership

This scholarship rewards students who demonstrate academic and personal achievement and have the potential to become active alumni who will support the university and positively impact their communities. It is awarded to a full time sophomore or junior. Preference is given to Student Alumni Ambassadors. The recipient must have at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrated leadership through involvement in campus clubs or associations, community activities or employment.

Alumni Memorial

A scholarship for a student showing academic success funded by donations from MU Alumni. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Barnhardt

A scholarship based on merit for a Secondary Education major in good academic standing. Preference is given to Math or English Education majors.

Borck-Wetmore

A $500 scholarship award created by B. Foster and Marlene Borck Wetmore, for a sophomore who has at least a 2.8 GPA and is aware of the importance of a college education, has at least a B average in the Math/Science field excluding environmental science.

Chemung Canal Trust

A need-based scholarship for a student residing in Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben or Tioga County in NY. The student may also reside in an area serviced by the Chemung Canal Trust Bank.

Class of '50

A $100 scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1950. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Class of '53

A $1,000 scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1953. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Class of '54

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1954. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student majoring in Education. The student may be a sophomore, junior or senior. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Class of '55

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1955 for full-time students entering either their junior or senior year with at least a 2.5 GPA.

Class of '56

A $650 scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1956. General Scholarship guidelines apply.

Class of '57

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1957. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Class of '58

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1958 to be used to off-set the cost of tuition or room and board awarded to a student who has demonstrated financial need, maintains at least a 2.75 GPA and is an upperclassman. Further consideration is given to non-traditional students.

Class of '59

A $1,000 scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1959 to be used to off-set the cost of tuition or room and board awarded to a student who has demonstrated financial need, maintains at least a 2.75 GPA, and is an upperclassman. Further consideration is given to non-traditional students.

Class of '60

A $1,000 scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1960. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Class of '61

A $1,000 scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1961. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Class of '62

A scholarship established by donations from the Class of 1962. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Colegrove

A scholarship for a Tioga County, PA resident. General scholarship guidelines apply.

Dunham Family

A $500 merit based scholarship for a Wellsboro, PA resident. The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Evans Family

A $750 scholarship given to a grad student who is at least PT and at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a non-traditional student. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Farrer-Powell

A $1,000 merit based scholarship for a Dietetics/Nutrition major

First Citizens National Bank

Scholarships presented to sophomores, juniors or seniors who reside in the First Citizens National Bank market area. Awarded to a FCNB employee, local director or their dependent with preference given to full-time students.The student must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and complete at least 20 hours of community service each semester.

Gladys Frick-Weaver Nursing Excellence

A $1,000 award for a senior Nursing major who has at least a 3.0 GPA.

Ronald G. &Betty B. Goodwin Leadership

A $500 scholarship for a resident of PA or the Southern Tier of NY. Students must be involved in leadership activities at Mansfield University and have at least a 2.65 GPA.

Higley Math

A scholarship for a female Math Education major who resides in North Central, PA.

Holiday Greeting Card

A merit based scholarship made possible by funds donated by MU Staff, Faculty and Administration during the holiday season.

Human Resources Departmental

A $500 scholarship based on both merit and need for a Psychology major who is emphasizing Human Resource Management. The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applications available through the HR office in Alumni Hall.

Hunsicker

A $750 need-based scholarship for a male Education major.

Lana Rose D'Angelo

A $1,000 merit based memorial scholarship for a student who resides in either Bucks or Luzerne County.

Sandra B. Linck Childcare Center

Scholarships available to student(S) who have a child(ren) attending the on-campus Sandra B. Linck Childcare Center and who are not receiving any other scholarships from the University. The student must be at least halftime.

Lippert

A combination of merit and need based scholarships available through the generosity of the Lippert Foundation. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have completed at least 24 credits.

Loeschke Leadership

A $650 scholarship created by former Mansfield University President, Dr. Maravene Loeschke. The award is for a student who has at least a 3.0 GPA. Recipient must be a proven leader on campus and/or in the Mansfield community.

Major Brian Dix Instrumental Music

Scholarships available to full-time juniors or seniors students who have made formal commitments to the field of Instrumental Music and/or Music Education.  The recipients must maintain a "C" average.

Mansfield Association of Educational Office Professionals (MAEOP) Book Award

A $300 book scholarship to be used at the Campus Bookstore sponsored by the University's Educational Office Professionals. Priority is given to a non-traditional student from Tioga County.

Mansfield Greek

Scholarships for the top students in Sigma Alpha Epsilon &Sigma Tau Gamma.

Joseph Maresco Leadership

A $1,000 scholarship created by former Vice-President for Student Affairs, Joseph Maresco, and his wife MaryAnn. The scholarship is for a student with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and who make a contribution to activities that serve the University community.

Mason

A $750 scholarship for a graduating senior. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

McInroy Sheffer

A $400 scholarship given to a senior Education major with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Members of the Military

A merit based scholarship for a student who is also a member of the military. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Merryman

A merit based scholarship for a student who has at least a 3.5 GPA.

Meyer

Scholarships available to FT students with at least 3.0 GPAs who demonstrate financial need. Preference given to sophomores. Students must manifest promise or outstanding academic success.

Mustafa

A $600 scholarship for a returning female international student who has at least a 2.75 GPA. This award is for room and board costs. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Nauman

A $1,000 merit based scholarship for a Fisheries major. Awards are based on Biology department recommendations. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Nursing Faculty

A $750 award for a junior, senior or graduate Nursing major with at least a 3.5 GPA. An essay is required. Please contact the Chair of the Nursing department for more details.

Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU)

Scholarships for students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to students who are members of PSECU. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Paskvan

A scholarship for a sophomore, junior or senior History major. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Pursell

A $400 merit based scholarship for a Spring Football player who has at least a 2.5 GPA. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Mary A. &Robert H. Rodine

An award for a full-time student who is from Lackawanna or Luzerne Counties. The student must have at least a 3.0 GPA. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

A. Hugh Schintzius International

A $1,500 scholarship established by Mr. Schintzius, a former faculty member at Mansfield University for an international student. Who has at least a 2.5 GPA.

Sheehe

A $1,000 merit based award for a returning Nursing student. General Scholarship guidelines apply.

Shirey-Cromley Yellow Ribbon

A $400 merit based scholarship for a Veteran who has been honorably discharged with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Richard Springman Memorial

A $500 need-based scholarship for a returning CJA major with at least a 2.5 GPA and evidence of community service.

Karen Starner-Jacobson

Scholarship(s) honoring the memory of Karen Starner-Jacobson available to members of Delta Zeta Sorority who have been sisters in good standing for at least one year. Successful applicants must be currently active within the chapter with at least a 2.7 GPA and have successfully competed at least 64 credits by the end of the spring 2015 semester.

Sunn

A $600 book award for a junior or senior English major to be used at the University Bookstore. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Harold E. Terry Endowment

A $500 scholarship for a junior or senior History, Geography, Political Science or Social Studies major. Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Thomas

A $500 need-based scholarship for a Nursing major with at least a 2.75 GPA.

Tioga County Commissioners First Responders

Scholarships for Tioga County, PA residents who are also first responders and majoring in Nursing, Criminal Justice Administration, Biology, Geography/Geology, Safety Management or Natural Gas Production. The student must also have at least a 3.0 GPA and be an active volunteer firefighter or EMT.

Trimmer

A $550 scholarship for a non-traditional student with financial need. A 3.0 GPA is required. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

University Senate

A $1,000 merit-based scholarship for a junior or senior with at least a 3.25 GPA who participates in extracurricular activities.

Wooley

A $450 merit-based scholarship for a non-traditional North-Penn High School, PA graduate. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

Young Memorial

A $1,000 merit-based scholarship for a Biology major who has at least a 3.5 GPA. General Scholarship Guidelines apply.

 

This is not an all-inclusive list as we are continuing to work at finding monies for our students. In addition, a variety of scholarship opportunities may exist for specific majors directly through the department chairperson. Departmental Scholarships are available in:
